Coimbatore: Coimbatore Catholic Association presented a cheque of ₹25 lakhs to the CM's fund for Corona Relief. A nationwide curfew has been issued until the 14th of this month to control the disease as the coronavirus infection has intensified in India.
The Chief Minister's Relief Fund has been set up on behalf of the Government of Tamil Nadu to receive donations to overcome the crisis. Individuals, political parties, industry organizations and many others have been donating. Following this, the Catholic Association presented a cheque of Rs. 25 lakh towards the fund to District Collector K. Rajamani.
The other members of the delegation were Reverend John Joseph, the Principal Pastor George Danasekar, Treasurer Father Francis and the Director of Social Services Association Arun.
Speaking about the donation, Bishop Thomas Aquinas said that "other than the donation to CM fund, the Corona Virus Relief items are also being distributed through the 74 churches in the city of Coimbatore under the auspices of the respective pastors. He also requested the public to cooperate with the orders of the central government."
