In Nilgiris, cases have been filed on 993 people and 670 have been arrested. 347 cars and two wheelers have also been confiscated since March 25, announced the District Police.
This stern action has been taken by the District Administration and the police department to make the people aware to not take the lockdown easily in the Nilgiris.
The government has announced that the best way to prevent the spread of COVID-19 is through restricting the movement of the people and hence announced the lockdown. In spite of the lockdown, many people are out on two wheelers and groups of people are seen walking out on the streets.
