Coimbatore: An incident of verbal quarrelling transformed into a physical altercation between a ration store employee and a resident of Kottaimedu. The distribution of emergency relief materials are being provided to the public through ration shops throughout Coimbatore and Tamilnadu to alleviate the pressure of the citizens during this time of pandemic.

At shop no 33, in Kottaimedu, Bakkialakshmi, a resident of Madukkarai market area is employed in the distribution of the relief materials. A resident of the Housing unit area, Rafiyadhullah Baziriya had come to the ration shop to get the relief materials allotted by the Tamilnadu Government. During her brief visit, an argument broke out between Bakkialakshmi and Rafiyadhullah, over the distribution of the relief materials. According to sources, Rafiyadullah had accused Bakkialakshmi of not giving the necessary food items in the right quantity. Following this, an enraged Rafiyadhullah allegedly verbally abused Bakkialakshmi and attacked her. It is also said that both of them have previous history of bad experiences with each other.
Following this, Bakkialakshmi filed a complaint at the Ukkadam police station and a case has been filed on Rafiyadhullah. She was taken into custody but was later released on bail.
