Coimbatore: Saraswathi (65), wife of Palanisamy, a resident of Avarampalayam, near Peelamedu, was suffering from ill health for the past few days. She was receiving treatment from a private hospital in the area.

Due to her health condition, Saraswathi appeared depressed for sometime. In her depressed mental state, she doused herself with kerosene and set fire to herself.
In a flash, the fire spread all over her body and her cries of anguish ended in vain as the attempts of the neighbours to rush her to hospital failed as she was declared dead by the hospital. The Peelamedu police have registered a case and are investing this tragic incident.
