New Delhi: The Ministry of Health & Family Welfarand the Home Ministry along with all the States & union territories had launched a large scale tracking procedure after the government belatedly recognized that the new cases of coronavirus infections seem to be related to the Tablighi Jamaat conference which happened in New Delhi. Though there were clear indications that foreign internationals related this event were showing up as positive infections and some dying, the government only 3 days back had clearly mentioned that the Tablighi Jamaat conference could have been a potential cluster and it was allowed to go on until March 24th.

Though there were clear indications that foreign internationals related this event were showing up as positive infections and some dying, the government only 3 days back had clearly mentioned that the Tablighi Jamaat conference could have been a potential cluster and it was allowed to go on until March 24th.

Once the government realised that this conference was at the center of many cases, a call was made to bring all those who attended the conference to be tracked, isolated and also to vacate the Tablighi Markaz mosque in New Delhi.
A massive state and district wide effort was launched and as of today around 9000 Tablighi Jamaat workers and their primary contacts and have placed them in quarantine. Of these 9000 workers, 1306 of them are foreigners, said the spokesperson for Minister of Health and Family Welfare.
In Delhi alone, there were around 2000 Tablighi Jamaat workers, including 250 foreigners. Out of these, 1804 Tablighi Jamaat workers have been shifted to quarantine centres and 334 people who were found symptomatic have been hospitalised.
In Tamilnadu, 1103 out of the 1131 Tablighi Jamaat conference participants have been traced and quarantined. Around 658 of them have been tested as of yesterday night and 110 of them have been declared as coronavirus positive.
