Coimbatore: In a heart-renching incident, a grieving mother who went to visit her dead son, passed away in a road accident.
On Thursday, Shanthi (53) from Thenmamanallur, in Thondamuthur, Coimbatore was rushing her way to Mettupalayam government hospital after she heard of her ailing son's death.
According to police reports, Shanthi was travelling to Mettupalayam in a two-wheeler. Unfortunately, her vehicle met with an accident near Sundampalayam and was rushed to the Government Hospital after sustaining serious injuries.
Not responding to the treatment, Shanthi succumbed to her injuries. Her body is being kept at the Government Hospital for autopsy.
The untimely death of both mother and son has brought inconsolable grief among their family members.
