Coimbatore: On behalf of the Tamil Nadu Differently-abled Welfare Commission, a medical team has been set up in Coimbatore for the benefit of the differently-abled and arrangements have been made to provide physiotherapy consultations via video call.

Physiotherapy known as physical medicine is an indispensable factor in modern medicine. Physiotherapy can help patients recover faster with no side effects and is an effective partner for clinical treatment for many health ailments and it's an essential service for the disabled, special children, for accident victims and the disabled.

Due to the lockdown, there is a problem for continuing treatment to the needy patients. Also, if there is a long gap there is a possibility of weakness setting in. It is also said that the progress of the physiotherapy treatment until now will be wasted and the disability will be increased.

Therefore, a team of physiotherapy clinicians has been appointed to conduct the district-wise treatment in collaboration with the Tamil Nadu Differently-abled Health Board and the Tamil Nadu Physiotherapy Council to avoid these risks. The team will provide suggestions by telephone and can help with the treatment through WhatsApp Video Call as well.

They will meet the victim directly and provide free treatment if needed. District wise committees have been set up to provide this treatment. Especially in the case of Coimbatore district, 3 groups consisting of 10 people are formed.

One of the co-ordinators of the medical team, Dr. Rajesh Kanna, said, "Our medical team is prepared to do their best for the Coimbatore district. We have started to help with the use of WhatsApp and Skype. Also, the public can contact us by phone and receive medical help so the people of Coimbatore can contact the following doctor's numbers to meet their medical needs"
