Though the lockdown has been enforced to control the spread of the virus and to protect the people from the disease, many members of the public have been loitering on the streets, with complete disregard for the law.
In order to control this, and to bring about some seriousness to the complacent attitude of the public, the police have been making arrests for violating the lockdown.
As a result of this, 107 cases have been filed and 109 people have been arrested in Coimbatore city. 33 motorcycles have been confiscated.
Similarly 425 cases have been filed and 486 people have been arrested in the sub-urban regions thus making it a total of 532 cases and 595 who have been arrested.
