Coimbatore: As TASMAC outlets have been closed due to the lockdown enforcement by the Tamil Nadu State government, illegal liquor hoarding has been reported in several parts of the district.
Coimbatore: As TASMAC outlets have been closed due to the lockdown enforcement by the Tamil Nadu State government, illegal liquor hoarding has been reported in several parts of the district.
To stop liquor hoarding, the police have increased their patrolling especially at suburbs. In a recent raid held at multiple locations in suburbs, the police seized 32 litres of toddy and 19 brandy bottles.
Seven litres of liquor was seized from Rasugounder of Madukkarai; eight litres from Shanmugasundaram of Aalampalayam, Pollachi; 10 litres from Sathish of Periyanaickenpalayam and seven litres from Subramaniam, in Pillichi Panchayat of Karamadai block.
Cases have been filed on them and later released on bail.
Similarly, 14 brandy bottles were seized from two locations -- seven bottles from Paechimuthu of Okkilipalayam and seven bottles from Vinothkumar of Annur.
Cases have been filed on both.
