The BJP State President Murugan, has issued a press release regarding the sudden developments of the COVID-19 situation, in the state.
In the letter, he said, "The government is working hard to control the spread of COVID-19, using various techniques, including the enforced lockdown. The PM has been communicating regularly with the people, giving them confidence along with valuable suggestions regarding the ways to protect themselves. The TN government is also working at a rapid pace. There is a war being waged against the disease, by the country and the entire country is in a state of shock. The first and best step to combat the virus is to isolate ourselves. That must be observed by everyone.
It has come to the notice of the public, that around 1,500 people who had attended the Tablighi Jamaat conference at Nizammudin, New Delhi, have returned back to TN. Many of the foreigners who had attended the conference had also not returned back to their country, instead they had visited other states and cities, including TN. Due to contact with the others during the conference and during the travel that they undertook, the spread of COVID-19 has been passed on to many others.
The various district administrations have been able to establish contact with some of the people from their district. However, it has not been possible to trace some others. The Director of Information and Public relations, Government of TN, has issued a request, asking the others to get in touch with the administration.
Considering the request of the TN government and the welfare of the people of TN, the participants of the conference, their family and people in close contact with them, should volunteer to come to the government hospitals and get themselves a check up. Nobody should take this situation carelessly and provide their entire co-operation for the measures taken by the government.
The state government should also insist on investigating the affected people, considering the welfare of the other people. This should not be turned into a religious issue. I believe that the Islamic scholars understand the intensity of the problem and extend their complete cooperation for the measures of the government."
