The enforced lockdown that is in place has also prevented the travel of people inside the cty and in the highways or across state boundaries. All businesses and other commercial organisations have remained closed.

The police department has also advised that, since the virus can spread from person to person, easily, it is necessary for people to maintain social distancing and not to step out of their homes.
In Mettupalayam, around 30 two wheelers and cars that were seen out on the streets, near the Six Corner area were stopped by the Deputy Superintendent of Police Mani, who was involved in patrolling.
Further, he explained the seriousness of the disease and created awareness regarding it. He also talked to motorists about the troubles that one had to undergo, if they caught the disease. Later the people who were caught violating the lockdown, were made to take an oath, on the streets, saying that, they would not step out onto the streets unnecessarily.
They were also warned that if they were caught a second time, the treatment would be different.
So far, 140 cases have been filed and some vehicles have been confiscated.
