Tirupur: In a maiden attempt, the Tirupur farmers market at Thennampalayam, has been installed with a disinfectant tunnel. People who visit the market, will have to walk through the tunnel, and disinfectant will be sprayed over them in the tunnel.
Tirupur: In a maiden attempt, the Tirupur farmers market at Thennampalayam, has been installed with a disinfectant tunnel. People who visit the market, will have to walk through the tunnel, and disinfectant will be sprayed over them in the tunnel.
Inspired by the model from Turkey, this tunnel was installed in two days, by the district administration, with the contribution of entrepreneurs of the city. Sarnitha Venkatesh, a businessman from Tirupur took the initiative to install this tunnel with the help of Tirupur Collector K Vijayakarthikeyan. This is the first of it's kind tunnel in India.
It may be recalled that the farmer's market, was heavily crowded in the previous week, and social distancing norms were not upheld. To mitigate the dangers, that this might lead to, the district administration has installed this tunnel.

The tunnel came into operation, from today morning.
Tirupur has also been proactive in setting up hand washing locations for the public, near hospitals and markets.
