Coimbatore: On Tuesday, 57 COVID 19 positive cases have been reported in Tamil Nadu, thus making the total positive cases jump from 67 to 124, in one day.
Out of the 57 cases, 48 cases belong to an Islamic group who travelled to Nizamuddin in New Delhi to attend a religious congregation between March 21-24. Shockingly, around 1500 people from Tamil Nadu have attended the congregation in which religious preachers across the world have taken part.
Now, the State health department have traced 515 people of the 1500 and quarantined them. However, the remaining 616 people are yet to be traced. It is speculated that these 616 people could be carriers of the virus, if they are not quarantined with immediate effect.
The Health department officials have requested these people to come forward and report to the health department without further delay.
It may be noted that 9 of the 515 people, belong to Anamalai here in Coimbatore district. They are presently quarantined at ESI Hospital in Singanallur, here. Their results are awaited.
