Updating the press regarding the situation in Coimbatore, he said, "All facilities have been arranged, for the treatment of COVID-19, at the ESI hospital. 82 people from Mettupalayam, Pollachi and Anaimalai had travelled to New Delhi for a Tablighi Jamaat conference. They have been isolated at various hospitals. Out of the 82 people, 44 people have been inspected, and the checkup for the rest of them is yet to be undertaken."
He further said, "As a precautionary measure, the residential areas of these people have been fumigated. The lockdown is in place until April 14, and only if there is 100 percent cooperation, for the guidelines issued by the government, we can control the spread of the virus."
He also observed that the people are not in a very cooperative mindset and said, "There should be one designated person to buy vegetables and groceries, in each house. Information has been passed on to the ration shops that only 100 people will be provided with relief supplies and the relief amount, each day, from April 2, Thursday. Ration shop workers have been advised to go door to door, to provide tokens to each house, for the collection of relief supplies."
