Coimbatore: Several police personnel have been deployed near the Corona Unit at Mettupalayam Government Hospital. SP Sujit Kumar is inspecting the corona testing that has been performed on 30 people who returned from Delhi.
More than 30 people from Mettupalayam have gone to Delhi on the 20th to attend a Jamaat event and have returned to Mettupalayam. As the corona impact is high in those who have attended this conference, the police are preparing a list of travellers who returned from other states and foreign countries.
Out of the 30 tests conducted 11 have tested as negative. The remaining 19 persons are presently in the Corona ward, with more than 50 police stationed near the Government Hospital Corona unit. Over 50 policemen belonging to the Naxal Prevention Unit and Special Task Force have been deployed throughout the hospital.
Sujit Kumar, SP of the Coimbatore district, has been in consultation with doctors on the condition of the people who have been admitted to the Corona division of the hospital. He also warned the police to not enter the ward and maintain social distancing. Mettupalayam GH Dean said information about the 19 patients will be divulged after the test results.
The stationing of police in the hospital has caused a stir in the region.
