Coimbatore: As the lockdown has taken a toll on the migrant workers, the district administration has stepped up plans to address their needs.

Briefing on the arrangements, Minister for Municipal Administration and RDI S.P. Velumani said, "Around 16,000 migrant workers are provided food everyday, in the district. Measures have been taken to ensure migrant workers do not suffer from hunger."
It may be recalled that on Saturday, hundreds of migrant workers took to the street in Sundarapuram demanding food. Migrant workers across the district are now being identified and provided help by the district administration. The Minister has also appealed to the industries to take care of the migrant workers working in their establishments.
