With the increase in positive cases across the nation, the Ministry of Health are seriously contemplating ways to provide medical care to the needy, especially if it affects the rural population. In this regard, the Ministry of Health has instructed all government departments to do their utmost to help the rural population with corona preventive measures.
Accordingly, the Central Railway Department has intensified its work on corona prevention and medical service. Minister of Railways, Piyush Goyal after consulting with top officials of the railways has informed that the train compartment and engine maintenance centre (Railway Workshop) can manufacture and deliver corona prevention equipment like gloves, and face masks.

They have decided to expand this work which is currently being carried out in a few places. Similarly, they have decided that the railway cabinets with toilet facilities can be cleaned and converted into isolation wards for corona treatment. The coaches will be used at places where they are no facilities for isolation wards or scarcity of beds.

Subsequently, the railway employees have taken the task of converting the three train compartments into isolation wards at the Coimbatore workshop, which is under the Salem division. Officials said that within a week, these three compartments will be converted into isolation wards.
