Coimbatore: Amidst people violating the lockdown for trivial reasons, the effort made by two young men, to help a pregnant woman has received the appreciation of many.
In a noble gesture, the two young men visited the Coimbatore GH to donate blood in the middle of the night, to an ailing pregnant woman. They had to travel amidst the enforced lockdown, and a lot of hinderance.
Shanmugavadivu, wife of Senniappan, a daily wage labourer, from Tirupur, was admitted at the Tirupur Government hospital. She was transferred to the Coimbatore GH for emergency pregnancy treatment. She is currently being treated at the Coimbatore GH.
The doctors notified that she needed blood donors and Senniappan approached various people through WhatsApp groups, with the help of his friends from the press.
The message reached Ayub Riyaz, the coordinator of Lovely Youth Wings, a Blood Donation Service Center. He contacted his friend Eshwaran, who reached out to two blood donors Santhosh and Saravanan, at 11 PM.
Understanding the urgency of the situation, both Santhosh and Saravanan, obliged to come out to donate blood. Santhosh travelled from Saravanmpatti and Saravanan travelled from Podanur, to donate blood at the Coimbatore GH. They donated blood and went back home, past midnight.
This selfless act of the young men, with support from the volunteers, press friends and the police, has been greatly welcomed.
