Coimbatore City police lauded..! Rescue mentally disturbed man, gives hair cut and food
Coimbatore: With the rapid spread of the coronavirus and the imposed 21-day lockdown, the most neglected and the forgotten are the abandoned people who live in unsanitary and inhumane conditions along the pavements. Though the risk of them contracting the virus is high, hunger may drive them to death, even before the virus. With most of the small eateries and tea shops closed, these abandoned people of which many are mentally challenged are left with no place to go.
Amid their busy schedule of maintaining law and order and ensuring people don't meander in the streets during lock down period, the Inspector of Selvapuram police station, Sivakumar couldn't get over the sight of a mentally challenged man roaming in panic and hunger.
Inspector Sivakumar walked down to the man who was drenched in dirt and very weak. He along with one other police personnel pacified him, offered him a hair cut and even brought him fresh clothes to wear. Later, the man was provided food sent to a shelter home.
The video of the humanitarian act of the police inspector has gone viral on social media.
People are sending their love and respect to the city police department for their thoughtful gesture on abandoned and homeless people in this hour of crisis.
