People have been warned and advised against stepping out of their houses, unnecessarily. However, in spite of the many steps taken to spread awareness among the public, being a Sunday customers thronged the meat markets and to other vegetable markets.
Ukkadam, being the center for sale of meat and fish, was crowded with people visiting the shops, since 5 AM. Eventhough they were advised by the shopkeepers and the police, to main the social distancing standard of one meter, people threw caution to the winds. They were seen crowding by the shops despite the shopkeepers announcing in loudspeakers.

It was a similar scenario at other markets too. People at the farmers markets and the grocery stores were seen to be crowding around the shops, without any regard for social distancing.
Even with all the COVID-19 scare and measures and creation of awareness, people do not seem to have understood the need for social distancing yet in Coimbatore.
