A special team formed under the guidance of Balaji Saravanan, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Law&Order), Assistant Commissioner, Karthikeyan and Inspector Latha arrested four people of Hindu Munnani for their involvement in the assualt of the Iqbal (54) of SDPI and Shahjahan who tried to help him.
On March 10, 2020, Iqbal was attacked in Kattoor near his shop. His friend Shajahan who tried to help him was also attacked by a gang of unidentified men. The duo were rushed to Coimbatore GH for treatment and later discharged.
The police arrested Hindu Munnani City Secretary, Sathish Kannan, Rahul, Vineesh and Mathiyalagan and remanded in the Coimbatore Central Prison for their involvement in the crime..
