In Valparai the public is allowed to come out to buy essential commodities such as milk, vegetables, groceries and pharmaceuticals. The public has taken advantage of this and many have been found violating by walking and using two and four-wheelers in Valparai.

A number of police officers, led by Valparai Police Inspector Balamurugan, patrolled the post office, Old Bus Stand, Stanmore Junction and New Bus Stand, to control the situation.

The police were investigating those who went on the roads. People who frequently came on the roads were brought to the Gandhi Statue to stand on the social distancing line to create awareness of the spread of coronavirus to other people. He also made them take an oath to not roam around unnecessarily and be in self quarantine. He also stressed them to buy supplies from the stores for a week and to avoid frequenting the shops.
