Upon directives from State Government, PSG Institute of Medical Science and Research has opened an exclusive ward to treat COVID 19, suspects and patients.

The exclusive isolation ward is equipped with 200 beds, of which 20 beds will be dedicated for critical cases, and 10 beds with ventilator facilities.
Separate operation theatre has been set for the purpose of treating pregnant Women and other patients affected with COVID-19, the doctors informed.

The PSG IMS&R - COVID19 Task Force'. committee comprises of specialists from various departments in PSG Hospitals.

"Doctors were divided into groups with one senior doctor, a junior doctor, intern and a postgraduate student will be working under shift basis, round-the-clock to treat COVID-19 patients. We have also made arrangements for quarantining the doctors, paramedical staffs and personal protection of health care workers", informed Dr S Ramalingam, Dean, PSG IMS&R.
Briefing the media, Dr Sudha Ramalingam added that "We have roped in Dr A Murali, Professor of Medicine (Infectious Disease) Dr R Karthikeyan, Professor of Respiratory Medicine, Dr Sudha Ramalingam, Professor of Community Medicine, Dr A Jayavardana, Professor of Pediatrics and Dr S Lavanya, Assistant Professor of Microbiology, who are specialist in their respective departments."
We have also requested the government regarding the COVID 19 test and once we get approval, the tests will be done in the hospital, she added.
