Coimbatore: The Valparai Municipality has formed volunteer groups, to help with the COVID-19 preparedness measures and to take the awareness to the people.
A group of 20 members from the Valparai Football team met with the Municipal Commissioner Pavanraj and expressed their interest to help out with the COVID-19 prevention measures.
Accepting their request, the Municipal Commissioner requested their help in spreading awareness regarding the spread of the virus, among the workers in the tea estate areas. Further, he sought their help to intensify the fumigating operations being undertaken by the Municipal workers and to help identify and inform, regarding the people exhibiting symptoms of COVID-19.
The volunteers will be provided with an ID card, face mask and safety gloves by the Municipality. Following this, the Municipal Commissioner conducted a surprise inspection at the Amma hotel. He ordered the employees that the food provided should be hygienic and tasty. He also tasted the lunch to check for its quality. Municipality Health Inspector Johnson and supervisor Sivakumar and officials were present.
