Coimbatore: In a bid to avoid over crowding of people to buy essentials, the District Administration has decided to open temporary shops to sell essential commodities, like vegetables and grocery items.n
Amid several restrictions including social distancing, Uzhavar Sandhai was functional today. To ensure people follow the advisories, District Collector K. Rajamani and the Corporation Commissioner J. Sravan Kumar on Friday inspected the precautionary measures carried out at the markets.
Speaking to the press, the District Collector said, "Inordinate measures have been taken, to control the spread of COVID-19. Those with symptoms are being identified and sent for checkup, to ESI hospital in Singanallur. Necessary arrangements have been made to ensure full-fledged availability of essential commodities to the people."
Amid several preventive measures, people have been instructed to practice social distancing at all places, the Collector told.
"To ensure safety of the people and to make things available closer to home, temporary shops are being set up at Gandhipuram Bus stand, Ukkadam bus stand, Saibaba Colony bus stand. These shops will sell vegetables and all essential groceries", informed the Collector.
