The Nilgiris: District Collector Innocent Divya addressed the press today and issued a series of announcements. She has been meeting with the press almost on a daily basis to appraise the general public about all the actions of the government.
Addressing the press she said, "As per the instructions of the CM, plans have been made to reduce crowding at all market areas. Shanthi Vijaya Grounds at Ooty and bus stand will be temporarily made into locations for setting up shops. Similarly, to reduce the crowding of people, as per the instructions of the Government Cooperative Farmers Market survey, vegetable will be sold at these locations, directly from vehicles. Plans are being made to accommodate this arrangement."
Reminding the public about the instructions issued already, she said, "People must ensure that section 144 is not violated. Arrangements have been made to spray disinfectants using fire engines, at the places where people movement is generally seen. 108 ambulances are kept at ready and facilities to undertake a dialysis have been arranged in Nilgiris, so people do not have to travel outside the district. 68 private ambulances have been kept in a ready state. Farmers will be provided all the necessary supplies they need."
Talking about the COVID-19 cases, she confirmed, "732 people in Nilgiris District have been quarantined and are being monitored. Legal action will be taken against them, if they step out of their quarantined place. The neighbourhood should also be vigilant, and ensure that quarantined people do not step out of their homes. 7 people who showed symptoms of COVID-19 have been isolated and are being treated. Their blood samples were sent for testing, however all of the results came back 'NEGATIVE'. There are 147 people who are being monitored. All of them have arrived from abroad. "
"Action will taken against people who sell vegetables at a hiked up price. Cases have been filed on 91 people who violated section 144", she informed.
