Despite orders to stay indoors due to COVID-19 outbreak, many people violate the rules and venture out to click photos, meet their friends and relatives. In a bid to clampdown such violations, the City Police have intensified their patrol, confiscating vehicles and slapping fines on law breakers.
On Thursday, at the Karumathampatti four roads junction, the police caught few youngsters who were out on two wheelers, without having any essential reason to step out, The police then educated them about COVID-19 and the ways in which it spreads. Further, they were provided with face masks. Additionally, they were entrusted with the responsibility of educating the other law breakers to stay indoors.
In another incident, a car transporting a newly wed couple from Sulur to Avinashi, was stopped by the Karumaththampatti police. Upon observing that the couple were not wearing face masks, the police officials provided them with face masks and also educated them on the importance of wearing a face mask.
The public appreciated the gesture of the police and their care to safeguard people from COVID-19 spread.
