The Minister chaired the review meeting, today at the District Collectorate, to review the ongoing preventive measures to combat Coronavirus. During the meet, he instructed the officials to expedite all preventive measures.
Speaking to reporters later, Minister SP Velumani said preventive measures to combat Coronavrius are being carried out on war footing in the district.
He informed that at the COVID-19 observation centre at Karumathampatti area, so far 546 passengers from UAE and Sharjah have been checked and confirmed to have no Corona symptoms.
The Minister added that 240 beds have been set up in eight government Primary Health Centres in the Coimbatore district. And, 39 medical teams are working round-the-clock at 8 checkpoints across the city.
"Health officials are in regular contact with all the 314 people, under isolation. Stickers informing their isolation have been pasted on their doors, to alert others. In Coimbatore, so far 97 people have been tested for Coronavirus. Of which, 73 turned negative and 2 have been tested positive", he told.
He said the test results of 27 more people is pending. The Minister apprised that disinfectants are being sprayed at all the bus stations and public places. "Prison inmates and women self-help groups are engaged in manufacturing face masks", he added.
Requesting the people to be cautious and stay indoors, the Minister advised that people should consume healthy food and increase their intake of Vitamin C rich foods like gooseberries and oranges.
He informed that steps have been taken to supply all healthy food products through ration shops through token system and shops have been instructed not to sell goods at hiked prices.
Minister SP Velumani said, "Action has been taken to ensure uniform drinking water supply in all parts of the State."
