Coimbatore: A lone male elephant that came out from the Nellithurai Reserve Forest was seen to be roaming the river banks in with an injured leg.
Coimbatore: A lone male elephant that came out from the Nellithurai Reserve Forest was seen to be roaming the river banks in with an injured leg.
The tribals in the region informed the Mettupalayam Forest Guards about the injured elephant. Subsequently, the forest department headed by Forest Ranger Selvaraj split into two groups and decided to search for the elephant and treat it.

As per the advice of the veterinary team, the elephant was given food laded with medicines required for the treatment. The wild elephant was found and was treated deep in forest at a distance that was not easy to reach. Despite this challenging task, the Mettupalayam Forest Department has been working in two groups, in finding and treating the elephant. Another team is also involved in the preparation of the food for the elephant.
