Vehicles to Ooty stopped midway and sent back as section 144 comes into effect

The Nilgiris: The state government's order to implement section 144, came into effect yesterday evening at 6 PM. As a result of this, all the district borders have been closed. Vehicles from Mettupalayam to Ooty were stopped near Kallar, by the police and were sent back.

More than 20 policemen have been deployed near Thooripalayam, Kallar and road traffic towards Ooty, has been halted. 



All out of station vehicles are being sent back. Only vehicles with Nilgiris registration are being inspected and permitted to travel further, towards Nilgiris.
