Coimbatore: Doing their part to combat the novel Coronavirus spread, the city homeguards have volunteered to guard the houses of the quarantined people to ensure they are completely isolated and not moving out.
In Coimbatore around 314 people have been quarantined at various locations. These quarantined people are those who have either travel history to places infected with COVID-19, or been in touch with those who were tested positive.
As it is imperative that these people should be under strict quarantine for a stipulated time, stickers have been stuck on the doors of such houses by the Corporation and health department warning people to be cautious.
Despite being advised to strictly stay indoors, some of the quarantined people come outside of their houses citing that they are free from infection, as they don't any symptoms. They fail to understand the whole logic of being quarantined and those can become asymptomatic carriers of the infection.
In a bid to ensure they are completely quarantined, the city homeguards had proposed to the health department of guarding the houses of quarantined people.
Souces say, the homeguards will commence their work by Wednesday.
