Coimbatore: A woman was killed in a road accident today as she collided with the car in front. The works of constructing the four-way lane road from Mettupalayam to Coimbatore was completed a couple of months back.
Coimbatore: A woman was killed in a road accident today as she collided with the car in front. The works of constructing the four-way lane road from Mettupalayam to Coimbatore was completed a couple of months back.
Since then the centre median has not yet been placed in the middle of the road in many stretches of that highway, resulting in fatal accidents due to high-speed vehicles on the road for the last two months. Thilakamani (38), wife of Naveen hails from Kuttaiyoor, Karamadai. She had visited her relative's home in Mettupalayam today in a two-wheeler and was returning to her home on the Karamadai road in Coimbatore.
A luxury car from Mettupalayam crashed into the rear of a two-wheeler when it approached the Kuttaiyoor area. Thilakamani, who was thrown from her vehicle died miserably on the spot. Later, the police took her body and sent to the Mettupalayam Government Hospital for an autopsy.
After investigation, the police said that the car which caused the accident was driven by Kalisamy from Kaliappanur. Police have registered a case and are investigating. It is said that the accident might have been caused when she tried to overtake the car.
