Speaking at the Tamil Nadu Assembly today, Chief Minister Edappadi Palanisamy issued a statement stating that precautionary measures are being taken in Tamil Nadu and that isolation is necessary and that some stringent measures are needed in the affected districts.
The Chief Minister said that the government would advise the government to convert 750 additional beds in the government hospitals and the existing beds in the large private hospitals into beds for corona treatment. He also explained that the necessary drugs and medical equipment have been procured.
Chief Minister Palanisamy said that coronavirus is a serious threat in Tamil Nadu, and issued a strict warning saying if identified with corona, the person must isolate immediately or legal action will be taken against people who defer. A total of Rs 60 crore has already been allocated for corona prevention.
Chief Minister Edappadi Palanisamy has announced that an additional Rs 500 crore has been allocated for preventive measures. He thanked the people for their cooperation, as Prime Minister's order was fully followed in Tamil Nadu. He condemned the opposition's meet when the government directive was clear.
He also said that public transport, private transport, buses, auto and taxi, other than essential and emergency services, would not be operated between states and districts. Meanwhile, Chief Minister Edappadi Palanisamy announced that all shops, shopping complexes and workshops will not be functioning except for essential commodities like milk, vegetables, grocery, meat and fish shops.
