Coimbatore: More than 2000 migrant labourers from Assam, West Bengal and Jharkand work at the tea estates in Valparai. Due to the Coronavirus scare, the workers are planning to leave the town and come back after the situation is settled.
Coimbatore: More than 2000 migrant labourers from Assam, West Bengal and Jharkand work at the tea estates in Valparai. Due to the Coronavirus scare, the workers are planning to leave the town and come back after the situation is settled.
As mobility of these people could trigger spread of the virus, the Regional Resource Center Chief, Dr Babu Lakshmanan led a medical team to meet with the North Indian labourers at the Sheikalmudi Estate, to create awareness regarding Coronavirus.
Dr Babu Lakshmanan sensitised the North Indian labourers and requested them to stay back at Valparai. He also educated them to practice hand washing and social distancing.
Later, he visited the Mazhukappaarai and Attakatti checkpost, on the Kerala border, and inspected the fumigation process being done on vehicles. He ordered for all vehicles to be fumigated, before they enter the Tamil Nadu border.
Dr. Babu Lakshmanan also insisted that awareness regarding Coronavirus should be created among the North Indian workers and that people who arrived from North India, recently, must be isolated.
