Coimbatore: With CM Edapadi Palanisamy enforcing the section 144 until March 31, 2020 to control the spread of the novel coronavirus in Tamilnadu, grocery shops across the city have been flooded with people.

Long queues and crowded parking lots with people frantically waiting outside the stores were a common scene. A lack of awareness of what services will be available during the curfew is one of the main reasons for this. Stores witnessed panic buying and hoarding of household items and drugs.

In a bid to put an end to this panic buying, we spoke to Senthil Natarajan, the Managing Director of Kovai Pazhamudhir Nilayam. He said, “grocery stores and all essential services will be available throughout this curfew period. All our branches will be open during this time and we are very well stocked to serve the people of Coimbatore during this period. I take this opportunity to tell the people of Coimbatore, to understand why this curfew has been implemented and to also tell them at no point would our stocks go dry because of this curfew. And even when the store is crowded, please ensure that the social distancing norms are being practised by customers themselves.”

With this statement, the team from SimpliCity would like to inform the people of Coimbatore that essential services like groceries, milk, meat, vegetables, medical, hospitals, and all emergency services like ambulances will be available as usual. Public gatherings of more than four people is not allowed. All public transport owned by government or private sector will not function. Use of personal vehicles are allowed for use during emergencies and for accessing essential services.

People should just stay indoors without panicking for us as a society to control the spread of this pandemic virus. If you have any doubts or clarifications about this curfew or you need details of what emergency services are available or to schedule checkups in the hospitals, please do not hesitate to call or WhatsApp us at +91-95858-55577.
