Tirupur: The Industries in Tirupur have announced shut down until March 31st. The central state governments are taking various measures to prevent the spread of coronavirus. As part of this, a consultation meeting was held today with the Tirupur Industrialists headed by Collector Vijayakarthikeyan at Tirupur district collector's office.

Following the meeting, Tirupur Exporters Association President Raja Shanmugam said that the district collector had asked the hosiery companies to be shut until 31st to avoid the gathering of workers. Other state workers are asked to stay in their rooms and the companies are asked to help them with basic necessities.
This decision was taken before the announcement by CM Edappadi Palanisamy to enforce section 144 in Tamilnadu.
