The Nilgiris: Tourists have been banned from visiting the gateway to Nilgiris, Burliar, in order to stop the spread of Coronavirus. Any vehicles coming from out of the district, are sprayed with disinfectants, before they are allowed to enter the district.

Preventive measures and awareness campaigns regarding the spread of the virus were undertaken, for the general public in the area. Pamphlets, creating awareness were also distributed.
The campaign was undertaken by the Burliar Panchayat President Susila, Panchayat Vice President Dheenadayalan, Panchayat Secretary Senthilkumar, Taluk Supply Officer Duraisamy, District Development Officer Nirmala and Tribal people took part.
