Coimbatore: Pro CAA, NPR and NRC protests were held at the Thernilai Thidal, on Raja street, under the limits of the B3 Variety hall Road Police station, on Mar 14, at 6 PM, by the Vishwakarma community associations and the TN Hindu Operation Federation.

The founder and President of the Tamilnadu Makkal Munnetra Kazhagam, B. John Pandian, spoke at the meeting, between 7.20 PM and 10 PM. Alleging that the content of his speech, was full of hatred towards the Muslim community and that it could incite religious hatred and cause a rift between the Hindu and Muslim communities, the Coimbatore District Police Commissioner had ordered to file a case on B. John Pandian. The speech was also expected to bring about law and order problems, disturbance to the peace of the public, and inciting a particular group of people, to involve in violence.
Under the orders of the Commissioner, and the advise of the Deputy Commissioner(Law and Order) and Assistant Commissioner (L&O, West), the B3 Variety Hall Road Police station has filed case no. 253/2020 u/s 153(A), 505(i) of the IPC and conducting investigations.
