Mahalingam, owner of Sree Sastha Engineering, at Singanallur and his son Manoj, petitioned to the District Collector, regarding the threats they were facing, from the Chennai DIG Sudhakar and other local Police officials, regarding the sale of mask manufacturing machines.
Sree Sastha Engineering, owned by Mahalingam, deals with the production and sale of face masks machines. Since the need for the mask manufacturing machine has also increased, Q&Q, another organisation approached Sree Sastha for the manufacturing machine.
Allegedly, another machine had already been procured for Q&Q, before it was supplied to other industries, by some police officials.

In the petition to the District Collector, Mahalingam also alleged that the DIG and other police officials had issued threats against them, opposing the sale of the machine, to any other parties. They were being forced to sell the machines only to Q&Q.
They also brought a recommendation letter from the former MP Soundaram, requesting action against the concerned officials.
