In the meeting, she said, "Coronavirus, which spreads rapidly in many countries, can be easily transmitted in a congested area like India. India is currently in the second stage of Corona infection. The second stage is the virus spread through infected people."
"In this scenario, the public should act with utmost caution. Though Municipality sprays disinfectants across the town, it is important that shops and establishments to volunteer to disinfect their premises at regular intervals, and ensure the safety of the visitors", she added.
The Collector also warned that those shops selling face masks at hiked prices will be dealt with. She also appealed to the people to abstain from spreading panic and unwarranted information.
The Collector apprised that health officials are visiting every hamlet, especially on the Tamil Nadu-Kerala border in the Nilgiris district to ensure they are aware of the virus spread and are being educated on the do's and dont's.
Divisional Officer Ranjit Singh, Municipal Commissioner Balu, Health Officer Raghu Nandan, Inspector Balu, Child Welfare Committee member M Kannan and several others attended the programme.
