Coimbatore: In an effort to address the price hike of face masks and disinfectants, the District administration are undertaking steps to enable the Women's Project Office to ensure sufficient availability of face masks and disinfectants.
Coimbatore: In an effort to address the price hike of face masks and disinfectants, the District administration are undertaking steps to enable the Women's Project Office to ensure sufficient availability of face masks and disinfectants.
As a part of this project, face masks and disinfectants, produced by Women's Self Help groups, have been put up for sale at the District Collectorate.
Speaking about this, the Women's Self Help Group (SFG) members said, "Due to the spread of COVID-19, the availability of face masks and disinfectants have become scarce and also expensive. In order to help the general public, these products, made by the SFG are now being put up for sale at the District Collectorate.
Talking about the products, they said, "On any single day, a thousand face masks can be produced. Face masks are made of cotton or poly poplin, the disposable face mask is priced Rs.20 and the washable, reusable masks are priced at Rs.10 each. Similarly, each bottle of disinfectant is priced Rs.150 per litre."
"If organisation provides the raw materials for the masks, the Self Help groups can use them manufacture the masks", they said.
For bulk orders, the Women's project Office at the District Collectorate or the Women's Self Help group can be contacted.
