Coimbatore: The Public of Karumathampatti on Tuesday blocked the Collector's vehicle and demanded to relocate the isolation and monitoring centre for Coronavirus that has been set up at a private college campus.
Coimbatore: The Public of Karumathampatti on Tuesday blocked the Collector's vehicle and demanded to relocate the isolation and monitoring centre for Coronavirus that has been set up at a private college campus.
Yesterday evening, the District Collector, K Rajamani inspected the monitoring center located on the campus of a defunct private engineering college in Karumathampatti at the outskirts of the city.
Citing that the centre is located closeby residential areas, the public in the area protested to relocate the centre.
Responding to their request, the District Collector, K Rajamani explained that the district administration will take full responsibility, and people living nearby need not panic.
He added that the observation centre will be in operation from tomorrow.
Unconvinced with his reply, the residents of Vinobaji Nagar demanded that the monitoring centre had to be relocated as there were thousands of homes, industries and educational centres in the area.
Later, the Collector and the health department officials negotiated with the people and reassured them of the complete safety. Tense situation prevailed in the area for a brief time.
