Awareness of coronavirus is being carried out in various parts of the district on behalf of Tirupur Corporation. As a part of this, the general public visiting the District Collector's office was briefed on how to wash their hands in a demo.
This was inaugurated by Dr Vijayakarthikeyan, Tirupur District Collector. Speaking at the press meet he said, as per government orders are educational institutions have been shut down in the district.
He said the Amaravathi checkpoint is being actively monitored in the border areas of the district and in case of suspicion their blood samples are immediately sent for testing. He said no one in Tirupur district is affected yet and also said that they have raised awareness in public places at bus stations and markets.
A control room has been set up by the district administration to contact in case of doubt about Coronavirus. Commercial complexes, temples and theatres are also closed. He further added, steps are being taken to consult the Tirupur Hosiery units to start production of masks.
He warned that if anyone is found to be selling face masks at hiked prices they would be arrested and appropriate action would be taken against them.
