Following the COVID-19 outbreak, all kinds of gatherings have been put on hold, by the State government, from today.
In this scenario, the visitors, for the prisoners at Coimbatore Central Prison, arrived in the city, to meet their family, or lawyers, to meet their clients. But all the Central prisons and other prisons, in the state, have been banned from letting prisoners meet their visitors, for a period of two weeks.
This came as a sudden news to the visitors, who had travelled all the way from Madurai and other districts, to Coimbatore, to meet their family. Further, the visitors were not permitted to hand over the fruits and clothes that they had brought with them as this too has been put on hold by the Prison administration.
"Cancellation of the prison visit for relatives, has been done without any prior notice. This has caused a lot of inconvenience for all the people who travelled from far, with the hope of meeting a family member", they complained.
