Coimbatore: The rapid spread of COVID-19, all over globe, has caused most of the systems to shut down. In TN too, the government has opted to close down schools, colleges, malls, business establishments and theaters until Mar 31. Large gathering of people in malls and entertainment centers have also been asked to be closed during this time period.

Many busy places in Coimbatore wore a deserted look, due to COVID threat.

Policemen involved in vehicle checks and other protection duty, are constantly exposed to a lot of people in the police stations as well as in public places.
The Coimbatore Police Commissioner Sumith Sharan and Deputy Commissioner Balaji Saravanan, have advised the policemen, on protection duty, to continue their work, wearing masks. This is being insisted, as a proactive, protective measure.

Policemen were found wearing masks, especially at the Ramanathapuram checkpost and Singanallur checkpost. Traffic policemen were also spotted with face masks, while directing traffic.
