A separate unit has been set up to monitor the people over 60 years of age from 10 countries at the Coimbatore airport. Those who are already suffering from high-risk diseases such as asthma and heart disease, will also be taken to this separate observation centre by the health department.
Moreover, the Teja Shakti Women's Engineering College hostel in Karumathampatti area has now been converted into a special monitoring centre with 100 beds. Similarly, passengers arriving by plane will be monitored for 14 days.
The district health department said that if the coronavirus is present, they will be transferred to the ESI and the government hospital for further treatment. The impact of coronavirus worldwide has caused panic among the public. In the meantime, upon orders of the Central government, the inspections are being conducted at the airports since January 20.
And those who come to India by plane from overseas countries are being sent out after intensive testing. But any signs of the virus are immediately reported to the health department. At this stage, people who come to the Coimbatore airport with virus symptoms are admitted to the Government Hospital and ESI hospitals after the screening by the health department.
