Even during the recent series of clash between anti and pro CAA protestors in the city, many autos and drivers were targetted", informed the members of All Auto drivers association at the Collectorate on Monday.

Demanding an unbiased inquiry and legal action against those involved in such riots on autos, the auto drivers jointly petitioned the District Collector on Monday to safeguard their livelihood.
"In a bid to garner attention and achieve political gain, autos and auto drivers are attacked during protests. The District administration and the police should punish such wrongdoers and arrest them", the petitioners urged.
The auto drivers also registered their dissent over the recent clamp on operating autos during the night. "The livelihood of many auto drivers are dependent on night rides. In this scenario, the new police directive stating that autos should be functional only for a stipulated time, at night, will lead to severe monetary loss for the autodrivers. Keeping in mind the livelihood of the autodrivers, the police must revoke the orders", they appealed to the Collector.
