Taking advantage of the situation, traders hiking prices of disinfectants and selling inferior or adulterated products has been widely reported.

Condemning such acts, the District Collector K Rajamani on Monday warned traders to refrain from hiking prices and selling inferior products. He also has ensured that the government is taking necessary steps to address the scarcity of disinfectants in the city.
As today being grievance day, hundreds of public would throng the premises to submit their petitions, hence as a matter of precaution disinfectants like bleaching powder were sprayed throughout the Collectorate. The public visiting the Collectorate were also advised to use sanitizers.
After inspecting the disinfecting process at the Collectorate, the Collector met the Press and briefed on the ongoing preventive measures in the city to prevent COVID-19.
Speaking to the press, he said, "Preventive measures have been intensified, in the city. Both international and domestic passengers are being screened thoroughly at the Airport. Due to positive COVID-19 cases in the nearby State of Kerala, eight checkposts have been setup in the border to monitor the entry of people and vehicles."
"Land at a private college, near the Coimbatore Airport had been earmarked for establishing isolation/quarantine centers, for the passengers arriving at the airport with symptoms of COVID-19. The centre will be functional from today evening", he said.
"The closure of malls and theaters, in Coimbatore will come into effect from today", he said and updated on the patients at GH. Out of the 10 patients suspected with COVID-19, eight of them have been tested negative for the virus. The sputum samples of the other two patients, who are undergoing treatment, have been sent to Chennai, for testing. Their results will be obtained in a day or two", the Collector informed.
"As of now, Anganwadi's have not been declared holidays", he added.
He also asked the educational institutions close to Kerala border to be more vigilant and adhere to all recommended preventive measures.
"Students from Kerala have been asked to refrain from travel. And those who travel on a daily basis between Coimbatore and Kerala are being monitored. Beginning today, reports will be received from the colleges in the border, on a daily basis. A discussion has been arranged with the colleges, today. An advisory has been issued to avoid holding large gatherings, until the end of March", the Collector informed.
