There are over 4.2 lakhs TB cases in the country which is 27% of World's TB cases. National Tuberculosis Elimination Programme under 'End TB' banner is taking several steps to eradicate TB and achieve TB free country, by 2025. In a bid to achieve this, all private and government hospitals were advised to notify TB cases to the health ministry.
In India, 70% of TB cases are from the public sector and 30% from the private sector. Out of the 30% TB cases from private hospitals, PSG IMSR stands first in notifying the most number of TB cases from the city.
In order to recognise this effort by PSG IMSR, National Tuberculosis Eliminations programme awarded Dr Anupama Moorthy, today.
Speaking to the Press, Dr. Anupama Moorthy added that, "PSG IMSR is taking several initiatives towards END TB programme. Importantly, as directed by the Health Ministry we have been notifying 100 percent of TB cases reported in our hospital to the government."
She added that "Additionally, we are organising regular awareness programme for our paramedical and general practitioners to report TB cases. Since, TB is announced as a notifiable disease, we are doing our best to make people aware of the disease."
