In the petition he said, "There is a tense situation after a series of incidents, such as the attack on the Hindu Munnani cadre in Coimbatore, the petrol bombing of the mosque, the attack on the Muslim auto drivers, the petrol bombing on the Hindu Munnani office and the attack on the SDPI executives.
In this regard, on March 10th, Collector K. Rajamani held peace talks with all the Jamaat and Islamic allies at the Coimbatore district collector's office. Coimbatore Police Commissioner Sumit Saran, Deputy Commissioner Balaji Saravanan and officials participated in the peace talks. We welcome the many measures the police take to ensure the peace and order of the city of Coimbatore.
We also see some compromises due to various compulsions. We urge the police to act only for the peace and law and order of the city. The police should not compromise the law and order for certain political and religious parties alone. Political parties, People's Representatives, entrepreneurs and traders need to ensure peace in order to safeguard the public peace of the second largest city of Tamil Nadu.
Police should not allow any religious processions, public gatherings, demonstrations, or speakers. We urge stringent action to be taken on violators."
The Collector and Police Commissioner assured that all necessary action will be taken to ensure public safety and to maintain law and order.
